Helena Geralda Ramos, 85, left her body on the morning of March 2nd, 2022. She was the wife of the late Avelino Nascimento Ramos (1981).
Born in the Parish of São João Baptista - Santo Antão, Cabo Verde, she was the daughter of the late Geralda Barbara Ramos and José dos Santos Medina. Helena was raised in Santo Antão, where she was a housewife and gave birth to 14 children.
She is survived by her children: Marta Ramos, Pedro Roma Ramos, Izaquiela Lhothelier, Sérvolo Ramos, Felicia Ramos, Celestina Ramos, Vitalina Ramos, Joaquim Ramos, Suzano Ramos, Saturnino Ramos, João Ramos, Gregório Ramos. She has now joined her pre-deceased children Alcinda Ramos and Marizia Ramos.
Known as Nana, Nhe Helena D’Avelino, vovô, Vovaz, mamá, mãe, she was a mother to many, but particularly took in Precópio Maria Pinto Ramos, Nina Rodrigues and Lili Cibel Lima; she loved them as her own. She leaves behind her only sibling Joana Ramos.
Her passions included, taking in dogs and cats, growing fruit trees in her yard, cooking for her family and playing with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Later in life, she followed her children to the United States.
She was the grandmother to 22 grandchildren and the great-grandmother to nine great-grandchildren, and she enjoyed traveling to meet them all.
Visitation will be held on Monday, March 7th from 4pm-7pm in the Keefe Funeral Home, Five Higginson Ave. Lincoln. Burial will be directly at Rumford Cemetery, Rumford, RI Tuesday March 8th at 11am.
