90, formerly of Nathanael Ave., Pawtucket passed away peacefully on March 7th at Epoch on Blackstone Blvd., Providence. A life long resisident of RI, she was the wife of the late David A. Coughlin, Sr. She was the daughter of the late Dr. Frederick A. and Frances L. (Mattingly) Devanney and Eleanor C. (Parkinson) Devanney.

A graduate of St. Mary’s School, Pawtucket; Hope High School, Providence; and Rhode Island College of Education with post graduate work at Providence College, she taught in the Pawtucket School system for over 30 years. She also taught Americanization in the 1960s.

She was a president of the St. Maria Goretti Women’s Club, member of the Third Order of St. Dominic at Providence College, and the Legion of Mary.

She is survived by her sons; Attorney David A. Coughlin of Pawtucket, Joseph M. Coughlin of Providence, Gregory F. Coughlin of Pawtucket, John S. Coughlin, Esq. of Cranston, Thomas J. Coughlin of Providence, and Vincent E. Coughlin of Pawtucket. She was predeceased by her sons Frederick J. and William R. Coughlin. She is survived by sixteen grandchildren. She was the sister of William J. Devanney, DDS, and John A. Devanney, Ph.D., and the late Frances Teresa Devanney, Mary (Devanney) Haggerty,R.N., Frederick Devanney, and Lt. Joseph A. Devanney, RISP.

Her funeral will be held Tuesday at 8:45am from the Keefe Funeral Home. Five Higginson Ave, Lincoln with a Mass of Christian Burial in St. Maria Goretti Church, 155 Power Rd, Pawtucket. Burial will be in Notre Dame Cemetery, Pawtucket. Relatives and friends invited, calling hours Monday 5-8pm. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Vincent DePaul food pantry c/o St. Raymond’s Church, Providence, RI.
