"Coach" Manny Gregorio passed away peacefully with his beloved wife Michelle by his side. He was the son of the late Veriato “Chico” and Rose Gregorio. Manny leaves behind his son Ryan Gregorio, his son Jared Coyle, and his wife Caitlyn, his daughters Jocelyn Stauff and Abigail Heroux. He was the loving “Pop” to his grandchildren Makenna Gregorio and Liam Coyle. He is also survived by his brother Kevin Gregorio and his wife Kim, several nieces, nephews, cousins, countless friends, and his “brother from another mother” Nicholas Pacheco. He was pre-deceased by his brother Robert Gregorio.
A resident of Pawtucket for most of his life, Manny’s first job was at Newport Creamery.
He served as a Pawtucket Police dispatcher and worked at the City of Pawtucket sanitation department for several years. He played football for and graduated from Pawtucket West High School. Manny played softball for 15 years, umpired the darlington American Little League @ age 15 and was the youngest umpire and chief. He coached the Pawtucket Crusaders football/cheer, the Woodlawn Cowboys football/cheer and the Darlington Braves football/cheer organizations for many years.
He was the cofounder of the Woodlawn Girls Basketball Organization and coached for 5 years. He was the SWRI cheerleading competition announcer for 10 years. Manny cofounded the Central Falls Panthers Youth football/cheer organization in 1999 and was the president for 10 years. He also cofounded and was the first president of the Blackstone Valley Football/Cheer organization. Manny was inducted into the American Youth Football (AYF) hall of fame in 2007. He served a short time as a member of the St. Teresa Knights of Columbus.
He loved watching tv, napping, eating Portuguese food, Elvis, taking rides, playing his numbers, sitting in his rocking chair and “supervising” on the front porch of The 368. He also loved smoking cigarettes, drinking coffee, his tuesday night bowling league, Rudolph the Red Nosed Reindeer and riding into the sunset on his scooter. He enjoyed golfing, Bingo, and Cards with the Tardz. Manny was an avid Red Sox, Bruins, Celtics and Dallas Cowboys fan.
Manny loved spending time with family and friends, but especially loved spending time with his grandchildren The strength he showed during this fight is unsurpassed! He pushed through the darkest of days with a positive attitude and a smile. Manny fought for every breath up until his last. Manny was selfless and always willing to help anyone in need. He left his mark wherever he went, made a difference and touched so many lives Manny will sadly be missed by all those who truly loved him.
A Memorial Service will be held Thursday, June 2nd 2022 from 4pm-8pm in the Keefe Funeral Home, Five Higginson Ave. Lincoln. Burial will be private. We ask that everyone wear your favorite team jersey or Dallas Cowboys colors!!!
