passed away peacefully, on Thursday, February 10, 2011, surrounded by his loving family.

Born and raised in the city of Pawtucket, he was the son of the late John and Clementina (Cormier) Rogers. He was the husband of the late Joyce G. Rogers.

He is survived by his children: his daughters- Eileen Souza (Husband Charles) of Providence; Joyce Rogers (Husband David) of Somerset, MA; Donna Sabatini (Husband Richard) of Pawtucket; Shirley Zab (Husband Ski) of Providence; Sherrie Manchester (Husband Brian) and Roberta Emery (Husband Roger) of Smithfield and his sons- David Rogers of Providence; James Rogers (Fiance Cathy) of Lincoln and Robert Meyer (Wife Sharon) of Pawtucket. He was also the father of the late Mark Meyer.

Fred was the youngest of eleven siblings and was predeceased by his five brothers: Joseph, John, Kenneth, Frank, Daniel and his five sisters: Dreda, May, Kay, Frances and Madeline.
He is also survived by twenty-one grandchildren, twenty-one great grandchildren, many nieces and nephews and his former wife, Barbara Rogers of Pawtucket.

A proud WWII veteran, he was decorated with two distinguished Flying Crosses, a Purple Heart, Five Air Medals, A good Conduct Medal, a Distinguished Unit Badge, 3rd Oak Leaf Cluster and the European African Middle Eastern Service Ribbon. He served in FL, IL, CO, Libya, England, France and Ireland. He served with the Mighty Eighth Air Force, 329th Bomb Group and flew in B-24's on 25 raids. His greatest raid of all was the Raid on Ploesti. His name and that of so many other airmen are listed in the book "Ploesti". Fred was actually able to speak with co-author Cal Stewart!

Fred spent thirty years serving the citizens of Pawtucket on their Police Force. He retired in 1987. He often joked about being the "oldest recruit"in his Police Academy; he was 32 when he decided to become a Police Officer. The city presented him with his High School Diploma and other citations just a few years ago.

He enjoyed gathering with family and friends, golfing, playing cards, doing crossword puzzles, and traveling. Fred and Joyce had made their home in Florida after his retirement. He remained there after her death in 1997, returning to Pawtucket in 2009. He volunteered at Florida Hospital for many years.

Calling hours will be held from 5pm to 8pm on Friday, February 18th in the Keefe Funeral Home, Five Higginson Ave, Lincoln.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Saturday, February 19th in Holy Spirit Parish, formely St. Matthew Church, Dexter St, Central Falls at 9:30am followed by military honors. Burial will be private.
