Lori was a small business owner of a loving and caring Day Care Center for over 25 years where she nourished, educated and created memorable lifetime relationships with all of her day care children and families. She provided a safe environment for all her children to flourish as she raised them as her own. She was always available to listen with her ears and heart. She was their number one cheerleader and always made the time to provide encouragement and ensure that they knew that they were loved. Lori was considered a mother to her daycare children, they felt comfortable and this same sentiment carried over after she left her daycare business to begin a new career at Nathanial Greene Elementary School. This time in the cafeteria where she quickly became the student’s favorite person. Often, you could catch Lori sliding her students an extra cheese stick at lunch or smoothly handing them a piece of candy. Lori’s life ended doing what she loved and was most passionate about, children.
It didn’t matter if you were previously in her daycare or not, who the person was or what your background and beliefs were. Nor did it matter if you were a friend of one of her daughters or a person she barely knew, Lori had a genuine natural ability to make you feel welcomed and comfortable. She loved you for who you were, she loved your uniqueness and accentuated your qualities and made you feel special and one of a kind. You always had comfort in knowing that at any moment in your life, you always had a safe place to talk, eat and sleep. She was God’s messenger, an Angel right in front of your eyes. She would always make time for you; she would frequently say “You don’t need to wait for the weekend to make the time”.
Lori’s faith in Jesus sparkled in everything that she did. She put her Trust in God and through all the adversity and mishaps that life brought her way, she never lost faith and handled her life elegantly and graciously while still making time for anyone without ever burdening you with her own issues. She was the epitome of a person that did what she preached, it was visible that she consistently Trusted in God.
Jesus may have been Lori’s #1 but she had plenty of other hobbies that made her special. She loved and adored and was so proud of her family. She was the mama drama. A mother to her sons-in-law and of course the grandkids Bella. She was a queen to her daughters and showed how her husband is the king of the family even though we all knew that she was the matriarch of the family. She just had that ability to always make it about you and not herself. Her passion for food, cooking and music were always on display and shared with her family. Weather it was making her 12 hour secret homemade gravy to be shared at large family gatherings or dancing to Frank Sinatra with her grandchildren she always shared her passions with her family. Frequently she would share many different aspects of her Italian heritage with the grandchildren while also sharing her knowledge and love about history. The hobby that got her most excited was the trips to explore New York City, especially when she had the opportunity for the one on one trips with her grandchildren. She cherished that time to be with them and share her love for NYC.
We have comfort knowing that even after life, she has her Trust in God.
