Peter C.Mullen (75), of Pawtucket, Rhode Island, passed away peacefully on March 24, 2023. A lifelong resident of Pawtucket, he was the son of Frank H. and Mary Crawford Mullen. Peter is survived by his wife of 48 years, Joyce (Nicholson), his daughter Carey Richard and her husband, Justin, his daughter Katelin Gertrudes and her husband, Mark, and his two beloved grandsons, Owen and Cole, who he referred to as the “crazy guys”. He is also survived by his sisters Paula Horan and Martha Crippen as well as many nieces, nephews, cousins and lifelong friends. He is predeceased by his sister, Mary Jeannotte.

Peter attended LaSalle Academy and served as a paratrooper in the US Army in the Vietnam war. Peter worked at the Apex Pine Warehouse until 1984 when he became a US mail carrier in the city of Jamestown, Rhode Island, until he retired in 2011.

Peter lived life to the fullest; always taking on new challenges like competing in the Boston Marathon and running to the top of Mount Washington; as well as many races on foot, bike, and even roller blades. One of his greatest passions was driving his BMW motorcycle to various US locations, including traveling across the United States to become a member of the Iron Butt Association. Peter was proud of his Irish heritage- always enjoyed a pint of Guinness and even learned to play the bagpipes, joining the Newport AOH bagpipe band where he played in several parades including the New York City St.Patrick’s Day parade in 2009.

Peter will be lovingly remembered for his unfailing kindness, ever present humor, and for the enduring twinkle in his eyes.

Visitation will be held Wednesday, March 29, 2023 from 5pm-8pm at Keefe Funeral Home, 5 Higginson Avenue, Lincoln, RI. Funeral services will be held Thursday, March 30, 2023 at 10 am at the funeral home. Burial will follow at Veterans’ Memorial Cemetery in Exeter, RI.
