Heaven’s angels came down and escorted Alberto Varela from his earthly home and into the open arms of our lord on March 31st 2023.

Alberto was born on February 25th 1945 in Santa Catarina Santiago Cape Verde. He moved to Dakar Senegal at the age of 6 with his father, where he lived for 53 years before emigrating to the United States. He was a chief mechanic and handyman to all who knew him. He loved fishing, playing cards, and sharing stories with his friends over a drink. He was always smiling and joking, he was the life of the party. Anyone who knew him knew how much he loved fish. Grilled, fried or broiled if it was fish he would eat it. He was kind and caring he will be deeply missed.

He was the son of the late Jose Varela and Francisca Lopes. He was the husband of Alda Mariza Varela. He is survived by his brother Felix Moniotto and his sister Liliane Moniotto Daf. Also survived by his children Felix Varela, Yvonne Varela, Jean-Claude Varela, Jean Michel Varela, Lionel Varela, Marlyn Noel, Catherine Lucas, Anick “Nika” Bala, Sergio Auras, Stephane Auras
He also leaves behind 34 grandchildren and 14 great grandchildren.

His service will be held on Friday, April 7th 2023 at Keefe Funeral Home, 5 Higginson Ave Lincoln RI from 5pm-8pm. DIRECT Burial Saturday, April 8th 2023 at 10am North Burial ground 5 Branch Ave Providence RI.
