Rene Trudel, 77, of Pembroke, Massachusetts, passed away on April 14th, 2023 at Brigham and Women’s Hospital in Boston, Massachusetts. He was born in Woonsocket, Rhode Island on September 28th, 1945, to the late Donat and Jeannette (Duguay) Trudel. Rene was a beloved husband to Peggy Trudel for 53 years and a cherished father to Tenley McGowan. He was the proud Papa of his beloved grandchildren Madeline and Liam McGowan. He was preceded in death by his sons Timothy and Tyler, his brothers Paul, Norman, and Robert Trudel, and his sister-in-law Carol Boland.
Rene was a devout parishioner of St. Joan of Arc Church in Cumberland, RI, where he was a lector, Eucharistic Minister, and CCD Teacher. As a longtime member of the Knights of Columbus, he was a Past State Deputy of the Rhode Island State Council, Grand Knight of St. Joan of Arc Council #10620, a member of Woonsocket Council #113 and a 4th Degree Member of General S. J. Moylan Assembly 1057 and. He was a former member of the Elks, Big Brother Association, and Cumberland Land Trust.
Rene lived most of his life in Cumberland, Rhode Island. He was the owner of TJT Trucking Company and later worked for the EPA in Narragansett, RI. His favorite times were spent surrounded by family and friends, telling stories, playing cribbage, quoits, gardening and most recently as Papa to Maddie and Liam.
Rene was a kind-hearted and loving man who will be dearly missed by all who knew him. He is survived by his wife Peggy Trudel, his daughter Tenley McGowan and her husband Gregory, his grandchildren Madeline and Liam, his brother Donald Trudel and his wife Denyse, his brother-in-law Thomas Boland and his wife Kathy, his sister-in-law Elizabeth Crawley and her husband Robert, his aunts Georgette and Lucie Duguay and many cousins, nieces, nephews.
Visitation will be held Tuesday, April 25, 2023 from 5pm until 7pm at Keefe Funeral Home, 5 Higginson Avenue, Lincoln, RI. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Wednesday April 26, 2023 at 10am at St. Joan of Arc Church, 3357 Mendon Road, Cumberland, Rhode Island where Rene worshipped for over 40 years.
