Olimpio S. Baptista, of Pawtucket, passed away unexpectedly on Sunday, May 14, 2023, after enjoying a morning fishing on his boat down the Cape Cod Canal. He was the devoted husband for 40 years, of Maria Gomes Baptista.

Born in Fogo, Cabo Verde, the son of Maria S DaSilva and the late Henrique Baptista. He migrated to Boston, Ma in 1982 where he worked as a machine operator. Olimpio spread unconditional love and shared jokes and laughter with all. He enjoyed spending his time watching soccer, dancing and fishing on his boat with his family and friends.

In addition to his wife and mother he is survived by his children Olimpio Junior Baptista and his wife Chantell Baptista of New Bedford, MA, Henrique Baptista, Jorge Gomes, and Elisabeth Gomes of Pawtucket, RI, Fernando Gomes of Jacksonville, FL and Amelia Da Silva and Idalina Vieira of Angola.

He is also survived by 7 sisters, 8 brothers, 29 grandchildren, 3 great grandchildren, several aunts, uncles, godchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Visitation will be held on Sunday, May 21st from 2:00pm-5:00pm at The Keefe Funeral Home, 5 Higginson Ave, Lincoln, RI. His funeral will begin on Monday, May 22nd with a Mass of Christian Burial DIRECTLY at St. Anthony Church, 32 Lawn Ave., Pawtucket, RI, 10:00am. Burial will follow in Swan Point Cemetery, 585 Blackstone Blvd. Providence, RI. Relatives and friends are invited to join the family after services at St. Anthony’s Parish Center at 25 Forest St. Pawtucket, RI.
