Alexandre Nicolau Nascimento, 90, of Cumberland, Rhode Island passed away peacefully surrounded by his loving family at home. Born on December 7, 1932 in Machico, Madeira to the late Antonio do Nascimento and Maria Bernardo Vasconcelos, husband to the late Maria Teresa Franco Nascimento, was happily married for 63 years. He was the loving Father to Sandra Torres and her husband John, Alexandra Sousa and husband Tony and Sonia Costa and her husband Joe. He leaves behind 8 grandchildren Patricia Fox , Daniel Torres, Felicia Batalau , Joshua Sousa, Sophia Batalau, Marisa Costa , Daniela Costa , and Victoria Costa : 12 great grandchildren, Ava, Emilia , Benjamin , Adelaide , Olivia , Colton , Lucas , Emerson , Vivian, Sebastian, Cameron , and Teresa.
He migrated from the United States from Benguela, Angola; he had a long career as a fisherman. He loved spending time on the fishing boat and providing great meals for all the family gatherings that him and his wife loved to host. He was a member of the Clube Juventude Lusitana which he enjoyed volunteering his time grilling sardines for the St John’s Feast. He loved watching his favorite teams: Maritimo, Benfica, and the New England Patriots.
Also known as Avozinho he was an amazing grandfather who loved playing games and spending time with his great-grandkids. He will be remembered as a hardworking and caring person with many talents and was a true friend. His family mattered the most to him.
Relatives and Friends are kindly invited to the Funeral service which will be held on Friday June 9th 2023 at The Keefe Funeral Home, Five Higginson Ave Lincoln, RI From 8:30am to 10am. A Mass of Christian Burial to follow at Our lady of Fatima Church, 1 Fatima Drive Cumberland, RI at 11am. Burial will be held at Mount Calvary Cemetery, 153 Curran Rd Cumberland, RI.
