Gabriel Santos Ortega of Joyabaj, el Quiche Guatemala. One of the best tailors in his home town of his beloved Joyabaj, had the privilege to tailor pants for the staff at the American White House during the 1980’s and a devoted carpenter in his last 15 years with Unicorr Packaging Group in Connecticut. He was an avid fisherman, a passionate cook who loved to host during the summer time for his family and close friends by grilling carne asada, frying chicharrones, and cooking his infamous seafood soup – he greeted everyone with a bright and sincere smile and a warm hug at every event. He was very loving and embraced everyone who would visit him at his home with his charisma and gracious ways of making everyone feel welcomed and appreciated. He had an astounding view on life as he displayed strength, a positive outlook on life and had the ability to find humor even in the most difficult and hardest situations that life threw at him and his family.
He is survived by his wife Margarita Gil Santos of 47 years of marriage and his wonderful children Sabdin Santos, Yoni Santos and his wife Marleny Santos, Wily Santos and his wife Karla Santos, and Jeysson Santos, and grandfather to his beautiful grandchildren, passed into the arms of Our Lord on Friday September 1st, 2023 at 04:30PM surrounded by his entire family.
His hobbies included working out at the gym, fishing in southern Rhode Island, playing soccer with his friends and family on summer holidays spent at national parks, cooking for his loved ones as mentioned before, and traveling to his home country of Guatemala to enjoy time with the rest of his family.
Relatives and friends are most kindly invited to attend a wake on Thursday September 7, 2023 from 6pm – 9pm in the presentation of Keefe Funeral Home at 5 Higginson Ave, Lincoln, RI. Burial will proceed the following day on Friday September 8 at Keefe Funeral Home at 5 Higginson Ave, Lincoln, RI 02865 at 9am and will follow to Swan Point Cemetery located at 585 Blackstone Blvd. Providence, RI 02906.
