Kim N. (Williams) Holmes, 63, was born November 11, 1959, in Providence, RI. On September 19, 2023, while surrounded by her loving family, she made her final journey home to be with our Lord, overcoming a two-year illness to gain her wings. Kim was the daughter of the late Avis L. (Clark) and Leonard L. Williams Sr. She was married to the late William J. Holmes of Sumter, SC on May 25, 1996, in Providence, RI. Eight years after their matrimony, the couple relocated to Sumter, SC, where they resided for over twenty years.
As a longtime Certified Nursing Assistant, Kim showcased her compassion, commitment to care, and genuine love for the sick and elderly, as she tended to them with an affectionate touch that only she could provide. She enjoyed singing, dancing, nurturing friendships that turned into lifelong sisterhoods, and of course, sipping her favorite drink, Coffee Flavored Brandy. She was a huge sports fan and a diehard Boston Celtics and New England Patriots fan; and if you knew what was best, never say anything negative about her cherished #12, Tom Brady. Kim was a woman of many talents, but her most precious gift was her sharp memory. As the family historian, she could remember details often forgotten by others. She’d easily recount the family lineage, reaching back through four generations to share and cement the legacy and lives of her ancestors. Even more impressive, she remembered the birthdays of every family member and friend near and dear to her. Everyone looked forward to that phone call from Kim on their birthday, where she would sing the most special birthday song, year after year.
Kim was preceded in death by her beloved husband, William, her parents; Avis and Leonard Sr.; three brothers, Keith Brown, Marcellus Brown, and Manual Alves; her sister, Deborah Williams, and her extended daughter, Sherbert “Strawberry” Maddox. Left behind to cherish her loving memory are her siblings, Pamela L. Brown of Charleston, SC; Toni E. Campbell of East Providence, RI; Leonard L. Williams Jr., of Johnston, RI; Yolanda M. Thompson of Austell, GA; Darnetta L. Kelly (Leslie), and Zina B. Williams (Maria), of Providence, RI; her extended daughter, Nakia “Muffy” Maddox of Nashville, TN; her in-laws, the loving Holmes Family, of Sumter, SC, especially her guardian angel, Thomasina “Tommie” Holmes; her beloved companion, Heidi, a blue-nose Pitbull, as well as a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and lifelong friends.
Kim was a very special, warm-hearted, loving woman of God who will be dearly and deeply missed. Rest in eternal heavenly peace, our precious Angel.
