Sheila A. Gay, 69, of Providence, passed away peacefully surrounded by her loving family on September 26th at Hope Hospice. Born in Providence, she was a daughter of the late Elwood and Julia (Andrade) Gay.
Sheila served in the U.S. Army as a LPN, later working at Cranston General and for the Kathleen Norton Nursing Association. Her family and friends will always remember her for her kindness, generosity, and compassion to those she loved. Above all she was a devoted and loving daughter, taking care of her mother for over 15 years after she suffered a stroke.
She is survived by her loving siblings, Robert Andrade, Randy Joseph and his wife Coco, Elwood Gay and his wife Maria, Barry Gay; and many nieces and nephews. She was the sister of the late Elwood Gay and his wife Grace, and Sharon Gay-Coleman.
The family would like to extend a special thank you to the Veterans Administraiton, Hope Hospice & Palliative Care, and Keefe Funeral Home.
Relatives and friends are kindly invited to attend visiting hours on Monday, October 2nd from 4:00 – 7:00pm at Keefe Funeral Home, Five Higginson Ave., Lincoln. Burial will be private. In lieu of flowers donations in her memory may be made to St. Edward Food & Wellness Center, 1001 Branch Ave., Providence, RI 02904.
