It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Mauricio Vigil of Providence, Rhode Island. Born in Jucuapa, Usulutan, El Salvador, he immigrated to the United States in 1981. He was a beloved husband, father, brother, grandfather, uncle and friend who impacted many lives.
He was the son of Manuel De Jesus Vigil and Mercedes Ruiz-Torres, also from El Salvador. Mauricio spent a significant part of his life in the United States, starting his own business in 1995 that provided accounting services and immigration consultancy. Mauricio had an unforgettable personality. He was funny, he was grumpy, he was ambitious, he was hardheaded but most of all he was fiercely committed to his wife, children and grandchildren. It was not uncommon to find one of his grandchildren working in his office after school or during summers. Mauricio was a hard worker who found deep fulfillment in working in his community and encouraging his children and grandchildren to be authentically who they are which is the greatest gift anyone can ever offer.
Mauricio is survived by his wife, Cecilia Santamaria, and his daughters, Karla E. Vigil, Sabrina E. Vigil, and Vanessa M. Vigil, all from Providence, Rhode Island, and eight grandchildren. In addition, he leaves his siblings Yony Vigil, Juan Vigil, Marta Vigil, Jose Vigil and Eduardo Vigil, along with many nieces and nephews.
Relatives and friends are kindly invited to attend calling hours on Sunday, October 22nd from 2:00 – 5:00p.m. at Keefe Funeral Home, Five Higginson Ave., Lincoln.
