Antonia Frances Rocha, a devoted mother, grandmother, sister, and a valiant member of the armed forces and corrections community, peacefully departed this world on November 19th, succumbing to a courageous battle with heart disease. Born to Rose Frances and Peter P. Rocha. Antonia was a cherished sister to Maria Fatima Barros, John Rocha, Peter Rocha (Ana) Joana DaGraca, Victoria Rocha, Carlos Rocha of Cape Verde, Joao Rocha of France and the late Jorge Rocha Sr.

Antonia is survived by her three beloved children, Regina, Frank, Jerry Rocha, and her cherished children by love, Lashawn Deal (Rico), Valerie Richardson and Dana Harvey. She leaves behind a legacy of love and guidance for her grandchildren: Miranda Worthy (Malcolm), Stephan Moronta, Mariah Baker, Saraiyah, Syhkai Rocha and Emmett Gray, her great-grandchildren Stephan and Natalie Moronta and her grandchildren by love, Serenity Dula. She also leaves behind a host of her “favorite” nieces and nephews.

A proud graduate of the class of '75 from Hope High School, Antonia served in the RI Army National Guard from 1979 to the early 90’s displaying unwavering dedication to her country. Later, she became a Correctional officer for the Rhode Island Department of Corrections - Women's Division, where she served with honor and distinction for 18 years, retiring in 2008. Subsequently, she embarked on a new chapter, relocating to Charlotte, NC, to be with her daughter and grandchildren. Finding solace and community in her new surroundings she joined Greater Vision United Methodist Church. Her commitment to maintaining order and promoting justice left an indelible mark on those she worked with and the community she served.

Antonia faced life's challenges with incredible strength and resilience, exemplified by her victorious battle against breast cancer. Her courage and determination inspired all who knew her, leaving an enduring impact on those fortunate enough to be touched by her warmth, tenacity, and sense of humor.

Antonia's memory will forever live on in the hearts of those who loved her. As she embarks on her journey to reunite with her parents and brother in heaven, we celebrate a life well-lived and a spirit that will be remembered for generations to come.

Visitation will be held on Saturday, November 25th, 2023 from 1pm-3pm with a funeral home service starting at 2pm. Military Honors will begin promptly at 3pm in the Keefe Funeral Home parking lot. Burial private.
