Eleanor May (Beattie) Diggett, 86, of Cumberland, died peacefully Friday, January 19, 2024, at Hope Health Hulitar Hospice Center in Providence. Eleanor was born October 26, 1937, in Central Falls, daughter to the late William and Ruth (Arundale) Beattie. Eleanor worked for a dental office for many years before retiring in 1996.
Since she was a child, Eleanor was a devoted parishioner of St. George’s Church in Central Falls. Most recently, she practiced at the Church of the Good Shepherd in Pawtucket.
Many who had the pleasure of meeting Eleanor knew she loved dogs and enjoyed collecting dog figurines. She enjoyed scrapbooking with her daughters every week, knitting, and crafting. She especially loved spending time with her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren.
Eleanor is survived by her five children, Kimberly (Michael) Thompson of North Dighton, MA, Barbara Norton of Pawtucket, Richard Jr. (Cindy) Diggett of Lincoln, Lori (Gary) Lapre of Florida, and Carla (Joseph) Ottaviano of West Warwick.
Eleanor was the beloved grandmother of Lauren and Jennifer Gouveia, Christopher and Matthew Norton, Richard and Derek Diggett, Nicolas and Jack Ottaviano, and great-grandmother of 14 great grandchildren.
Visiting hours will be Friday, January 26, 2024, from 9:00 am to 11:00 am followed by a Service at 11:00 am in Keefe Funeral Home, 5 Higginson Avenue, Lincoln, RI. Interment at Moshassuck Cemetery in Central Falls will be private.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the National Kidney Foundation (www.kidney.org). The family wishes to extend their sincere gratitude to the wonderful staff at Miriam Hospital, RI Hospital, and Hope Health Hulitar Hospice Center for their hard work, kindness and compassion.
