Alfred D. Postle, Sr., 92, of Pawtucket, passed peacefully at home surrounded by family on March 7, 2024. Beloved husband of the late Mary (Brady) Postle. Born in Pawtucket, a son of the late Wilfred Sr. and Florence (Taylor) Postle. Survived by a son, Alfred D. Postle Jr. and his wife Dawn; three granddaughters, Sydney and Taylor Postle, Samantha Peloquin; a great-granddaughter, Vivienne Burgess; and several nieces and nephews. He was the father of the late Barbara Peloquin; brother of the late Ernest, James, Wilfred Jr. Postle and Florence Rhodes.
Alfred was a proud 1949 graduate of Pawtucket West High School. Following his education, he served honorably as a Corporal in the US Army during the Korean War, demonstrating his dedication to his country and fellow soldiers. His professional journey began as a lace weaver at the Phillipsdale Lace Works, where he honed his skills and contributed to the textile industry. Transitioning into printing, Edmond became a printer at Charles C. Cowan and Associates. However, it was his role as a custodian at Shea High School that brought him the most fulfillment. His dedication to his work was evident, and he retired from Shea High School in 2007, leaving behind a legacy of hard work and service to others.
His involvement in the Pawtucket Little League exemplified his dedication to youth and community, serving as a coach and mentor to aspiring young athletes. His passion for sports extended to playing darts, where he refined his skills both in his basement at home and in local watering holes in the neighborhood.
As an avid Boston Red Sox fan, Alfred’s loyalty was finally rewarded in 2004, a victory that brought him immense joy and satisfaction, and many times afterwards. In his later years, he found fulfillment in spoiling his granddaughters, who cherished his generosity and the special moments they shared together. A man of unwavering generosity and integrity, Alfred consistently gave of himself, earning the admiration and respect of all who knew him. His legacy of kindness, dedication, and selflessness will forever be cherished by those whose lives he touched, leaving an indelible mark on his community and beyond.
Relatives and friends are kindly invited to attend visiting hours on Sunday, March 10th from 11:00am – 1:00pm at Keefe Funeral Home, Five Higginson Ave., Lincoln, followed by a funeral home service at 1:00pm. Burial will be private in Highland Memorial Park Cemetery.
