Alda Costa Furtado, 85, passed on March 14th peacefully in her sleep after a long battle with Parkinson’s and Lewy body dementia. She was born in Feiteiras Sao Miguel, Azores to Mariano & Belmira Carvalho. She is survived by her son Frank Mariano Furtado and his wife Sandra L Furtado; her sister Elisa Amaral; sister-in-law Susan Belanger as well as several cousins and nephews and nieces throughout New England.

She was thankful for the tender care she received at Friendly Nursing Home as well as PACE in recent years. She also greatly appreciated comforting visits from neighbors, friends, family and even her little white dog Biggie.

She was a supportive wife to Frank S Furtado from June 24, 1961 until his passing in May 29, 2016. She was diligent and did not let her hand rest working as a seamstress in such places as Health Techs, Fashions Sportswear, Narragansett Knitting, and Cherry Tree. She was a loving mom instilling in her son such fine qualities as personal interest and empathy for others.

In recent years she enjoyed studying the Bible and finding a wonderful hope that provides us with comfort at this time. Understanding that Jehovah is the “God of all comfort” that has promised a time when there will no longer be suffering and death and where our loved ones will be resurrected truly brings comfort at moments such as these. (2 Cor 1:3,4; John 5:28,29; Rev 21:3,4) She thus enjoyed the association with Friends from several Congregations throughout MA, NH, RI, CT, NY, and NJ in English, Spanish, and Portuguese. She attended in person and via video conference at the Portuguese Congregation of Jehovahs Witnesses in Seekonk, MA.

There will be a comforting funeral talk at the Seekonk Kingdom Hall of Jehovahs Witnesses of 290 Arcade Av, Seekonk, MA at 6pm this Friday March 22, 2024. Burial at the RI Veterans Cemetery, 301 South County Trail, Exeter, RI will he held on Friday March 22, 2024 at 10:30am. (Attendees are to assemble in the Administrative Parking area on the right immediately after entering cemetery by 10:15am).

Ela nsceu em Feiteiras, Sao Miguel, Acores, filha de Mariano & Belmira Carvalho, ela e sobrevivida pelo seu filho, Frank Mariano Furtado e sua esposa Sandra L. Furtado; sua irma Elisa Amaral; sua cunhada Susan Belanger, assim como varios primos, sobrinhos e sobrinhas, pela Nova Inglaterra.

Ela estava muito agradecida pelo o carinho e cuidados que recebeu em Friendly Nursing Home, assim como PACE nos anos recentes. Ela tambem apreciava muito o conforto recebido pelos vizinhos, amigos, familia e ate seu caezinho branco chamado Biggie.

Ela foi uma esposa apoiadora de Frank S. Furtado de 24 de Junho 1961 ate seu falecimento em Maio 29, 2016.
Ela era diligente e nao deixava sua mao descansar como costureira em sitios como Health Techs, Fashions Sportswear, Narragansett Knitting e Cherry Tree.
Ela era uma Mae amorosa que inculcou no seu filho qualidades excelentes como interesse pessoal e empatia para outro.

Nos anos recentes, ela desfrutou em estudar a Biblia e encontrar uma esperanca maravilhosa que nos da conforto neste momento. Entender que Jeova e um Deus de todo conforto. E que tem prometido que nao havera mais sofrimento e morte e quando as pessoas que amamos serao ressucitados tras conforto em momentos como estes. (2 Cor 1:3,4; Joao 5:28,29; Rev. 21:3,4)

Ela tambem disfrutava da associacao com os irmaos de varias congregacoes atraves de MA, NH, RI, CT, NY and NJ em ingles, espanhol e portugues.
Ela assistia em pessoa ou por video conferencia a Congregacao Portuguesa das Testemunhas de Jeova em Seekonk, Massachusetts.
