Angel "Papi" Munoz, 83, passed peacefully surrounded by family and friends on April 9, 2024. Born on the beautiful island of Puerto Rico on January 27, 1941. He was raised in the heart of Ponce where he conveniently met the love of his life, Luz Maria. They were married in March 1964 and moved to Pawtucket, RI in 1967 where they continued to create their beautiful life together.
Not only was Papi a wonderful husband, he was a patient father, a caring son, an honorable Vietnam Veteran, and a loving brother, grandfather, uncle, cousin, and friend. His favorite movie was “Lean on Me” and there was never a day where anyone couldn’t lean on him. The word “no” did not exist to Papi, he always figured out a way.
When Papi wasn’t busy taking care of his family, he spent time in Vietnam, worked 30+ years at Carol Cable, and had many hobbies - his favorite being watching the Boston Red Sox. There was never a place Papi went without his Red Sox cap, including the casino. No matter how much he lost (or rarely won), he left with a smile on his face and was back two weeks later ready to play again.
Although Papi wasn’t an avid church goer, he was a dedicated Bible reader. If you ever needed a good book to read, his favorite line was, “Read the Bible.” At 6am every morning, you could find Papi in the dining room writing down verses, drinking his café, and connecting with Papa Dios. He also enjoyed listening to salsa music and simply just laughing. His laugh was infectious and his smile was the kindest. Papi truly lived up to his name - an angel on earth and now an angel in paradise.
Papi is succeeded by his loving wife, Luz Munoz; his four children, Angel Munoz Jr., Nora Munoz, Roberto Munoz, and Belissa Munoz Abercrombie; his siblings, Carmen Munoz, Raquel Munoz, and Andre Munoz; thirteen grandchildren; thirteen great great grandchildren; one great great grandchild; and many nieces, nephews, cousins, and in-laws. He is joined in Heaven by his daughter Melissa Munoz; his siblings Fernando Munoz Jr. and Roberto Munoz; and his parents Fernando Munoz and Maria Munoz.
Relatives and friends are kindly invited to attend visiting hours on Friday, April 12th from 4-7pm.
Burial with Military Honors will be held on Saturday, April 13, 2024 PROMTPLY at 11am in the Rhode Island Veterans Memorial Cemetery, 301 South County Trail, Exeter, RI.
