Mary Angel Fisher, Pawtucket, RI — The family and community mourns the loss of Mary Angel Fisher, a cherished soul whose life was marked by resilience, love, and infectious joy. Mary passed away on May 1st, 2024, at 7:21 a.m., leaving behind a legacy of strength and deep familial bonds.
Mary’s vibrant personality and zest for life touched everyone she met. From dancing through decades of music to supporting her favorite sports teams, such as, the New England Patriots, Boston Red Sox, and the Boston Celtics, her enthusiasm was boundless. Known for her sharp wit and radiant smile, Mary was truly the heart of every gathering. Her family and friends recall her as a beacon of light, a pillar of strength, a woman vessel of God’s grace, who, despite hardships, always ensured her family was well cared for.
She took great pleasure in taking care of her home and yard with decorations, plants, flowers, and meticulously maintaining the landscaping around her apartment, treating it as if it were her own property. At any age, she was able maintain her vehicle mechanics, and could change a tire without hesitation or assistance. Even at 89, she still drove, and at the age of 90, she climbed part of Mount Cannon in New Hampshire, walking over 1,500 steps to the peak while wearing sandals. At that age, she could walk up to two miles and continued to live independently in a two-story apartment where she raised her family. She cooked, cleaned, rearranged furniture, changed window curtains, and often climbed on chairs or stood on the back of the couch to reach high places. During the hot summer months, she would single-handedly install her air conditioners despite being advised not to. She was an incredibly strong, determined, and resolute woman. She cherished life and wanted to experience and enjoy it with her family and friends for as long as possible. She adored all the seasons in Rhode Island and New England, eagerly decorating for each one, with a special love for Thanksgiving, Christmas, Easter, and the Fourth of July. She was a devout Catholic throughout her life, and in her later years, she continued to deepen her relationship and devotion to Jesus, especially after her battle with breast cancer. Following her recovery, she remained cancer-free. She attended St. Theresa's Parish for many years, in Pawtucket, RI, and occasionally visited Faith Christian Center in Seekonk, MA.
Mary was predeceased by her father Abel and mother Hazel (Morris) Santos, her sisters Lucinda C. Rodriques, and Dolores Santos, her brothers Richard and Abel Santos, husband Edward V. Fisher, her daughter Linda Fisher DeCosta, her daughter-in-law Donna Fisher, and her grandson Joey. She is survived by her last remaining sibling, her brother, Idalio Santos, her son Alan, son Mark and daughter-in-law Ingrid, her son Paris, her daughter Jill Veronica Lee Perkins, son-in-law Skot, her grandchildren, Stephanie, Derek, Felicia, Richard, Angel, Brian, Michael, Paul, Princess, Paris Jr., Jahlyne, Jahlil, Ras, and Solomon, her great-grandchildren, Darius, Jonathan, Cruz, Sanai “Maria,” Michael Jr., Brian Jr., Damien, Jacob, Alexandria, Natalia, Julianna, Isabella, Nevaeh, Natasha, Jaxon, Alessandra, Janessa, Janiya, Dean, Drew, Desmond, Gianna, Brian Jr., and Jaziah. She also leaves behind many nieces, nephews, god-children, cousins, in-laws, and countless friends, most of whom consider Mary “Family,” as she was known as everyone’s vavo (Grandmother).
