On May 28th, 2024 Ashley Marie DeBarros passed away at the young age of 32. She was preceded in death by her Grandfather Antonio Gomes DeBarros, 1998 and her Grandmother Maria Fatima Soares, 2020. Ashley was born on August 6th, 1991 in Pawtucket. She was raised by her father Antonio DeBarros and her mother Ana Soares. She became an older sister at the age of 2. She had two younger siblings Britney DeBarros and Antonio DeBarros. On June 28th of 2011 Ashley had the privilege to take on the role of god mother to Sophia Larose. In 2017 Ashley met Idalina and they fell in love. Their relationship grew and the two decided to elope. Ashley and Idalina were married on September 18th 2021 and shared the last name DeBarros. Together they became a family of 4 with their daughter Jessica Torres and son Aydon Rocha. In April of 2024 Ashley made the move to Miami Florida where she spent her remaining days.

Throughout Ashley’s life she had many occupations of work. For the majority of her adult years Ashley worked as a security officer. She first began working at Memorial hospital in Pawtucket. She continued on the path of a security officer, moving into the behavioral health environment. When Memorial Hospital closed, she began working at a program called The Recovery Navigation Program in Providence; working with patients suffering from mental illness and substance abuse. Ashley then transitioned to working at BH Link in East Providence for many years. While working for the link Ashley started attending the community college of Rhode Island to pursue a degree in nursing. Ashley also began working part time at Landmark Medical Center in Woonsocket, where she eventually became a full time employee. Ashley’s last place of employment was Baptist Homestead Hospital, where she worked as a behavioral health technician.

Ashley loved the beach. Ever since she was a child, no matter which beach she was at you would find her in the water. Always to the point she would have to be dragged out along with her siblings. No matter which state or country she visited she loved the water. Ashley also loved photography. Ashley knew how to capture that perfect moment. Whether it was a family occasion, a wedding, a maternity shoot or a still life of nature, she always captured it so beautifully. She loved capturing the moon, sunrises and sun sets. She would wake up at 3 am to catch a perfect sunrise at Beaver Tail State Park. If a special moon was arriving she would travel across states, venturing as far as Vermont just to catch the perfect shot. There was no hesitation in trying to catch every sunset she could. Ashley loved to travel, whether it was with family, friends, or solo, to different states or foreign countries. Ashley was always down for a new adventure.

Ashley was a being filled with love. Just from looking at her smile or hearing her contagious laughter you couldn’t help but reciprocate her positive energy. Ashley was always willing to help others. Whether you were her family or friend she wouldn’t hesitate. Ashley had an aura that would light up a room. Whether you were going for a car ride, a party, dancing at the club or chilling at the lounge her energy was contagious. She made sure no one was left out of having a great time. Ashley would always make sure everyone was happy, no matter the burdens or hardships she was facing. She always put your well being first and made sure you were ok. Lastly Ashley loved her family with all her heart. She would do anything for them no matter what they asked. Such unconditional love.

Ashley will be greatly missed and forever in our hearts. There will be a public viewing for Ashley at Keefe Funeral home, Five Higginson ave. Lincoln, Rhode Island between 1pm and 4pm on Sunday, June 9th 2024. Burial private.
