Jeannine (Hamel) Cayer passed away on August 2, 2024, in Providence after a short illness. She was 95 and was the beloved wife of the late Raymond Cayer.
Born and raised in Central Falls, she graduated from Notre Dame High School. Jeannine and Ray married in 1952 and moved to Cumberland in 1964. She was a long-time secretary at Hasbro in Pawtucket and then at Lonza in Ashton.
For several years, she spent winters in Englewood, Florida, connecting with friends from the Pawtucket area. In 2017, she moved to Tockwotton on the Waterfront in East Providence where she made new friends and took part in a range of activities.
Jeannine especially loved being with family and friends. She was an integral part of holiday celebrations and also enjoyed traveling, both nationally and internationally. She was known to be a good ballroom dancer and loved the music of Jerry Vale. In her later years, Jeannine and her dear friend, the late Bernard “Barney” Masse, enjoyed the company of her relatives and his large extended family.
A communicant of St. Aiden’s, Jeannine’s Catholic faith was central to her life. She regularly donated to Catholic causes as part of her mission to help others.
