Mother Dolores “Dee” Irene (White) Carter, 80, of Pawtucket, RI, passed away peacefully surrounded by her family on Sunday August 18th, 2024. She was the wife of the late Michael Carter.

She was born on November 20, 1943 in Lancaster, PA and was the daughter of the late Jackki Margaret West White and Willie Jefferson White. She graduated from York High School in York, PA. She worked at the RI Dept of Social Security, Elmwood Health Center and The Steere House in Providence, RI. Later, she moved to Topeka, Kansas where she started her own daycare business called Dee’s Busy Bee’s Daycare and was a resident there for 30 years. Finally, she decided to come back to live at home in RI. She volunteered for the City of Pawtucket on an advisory board for Mayor Grebien.

She was a self taught pianist, singer, choir director, and an anointed worshiper at New Hope Church of the Living God in Providence, RI (Bishop Dickerson), The RI Mass Choir, Shaw Memorial AME Zion Choir (Rev Margaret Lawson), Abundance of Life Cathedral of Praise in Topeka, KS (Bishop MP Jackson Jr.), Beloved Tabernacle in Providence, RI (Bishop Keith), and she sang tenor for Mixed Magic Theatre Exult Choir (Kim Pitts-Wiley). Gram, as she was known by her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, loved singing, play the keyboard, cooking, drawing, painting and spending time with family. Her ministries ushered in the presence of God and brought deliverance to many.

She is preceded in death by her siblings: Joyce Ann White, Floyd White, Robert White, William White, and Melvin White; her son, Daryl V Carter of KS, and her granddaughter, Jenelle Harrison of RI.
Her memory and legacy will be carried on through siblings: The Reverend Margaret Lawson of MA, Lola LaVallee of CA, and Carol White of MA; her sons, William White of RI, Ronnald White of KS and Pastor Gerald White of RI, her daughters Kathryn Morrison of MA, and Yolanda Hoo of MA, her beloved grandchildren: Jeniselynn Harrison of RI, Ashley White and Charrise White of VA, Ronald White Jr and Veronica White of KS, Kathryn Morrison Hewson (Kim Hewson), Kimberly Morrison Pitts-Wiley (Jonathan Pitts-Wiley), and Krystal Morrison of RI, and Nathan Carter, Kai Carter, Heaven Carter, and Aiden Carter of GA, and her beloved great grandchildren, a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, church family, neighbor residents, and friends.

Viewing will be at Keefe Funeral Home, 5 Higginson Ave, Lincoln, RI Friday, August 23rd 2024 from 9am-11am, Service will begin at 11am. A Repast will be held immediately after service at Riveredge Village Apartments Community Room 993 Manton Ave 2nd floor, Providence, RI
Burial will be Saturday, August 24th at Walnut Hill Cemetery, 200 Armistice Blvd, Pawtucket, RI 02860 at 10am. Please meet directly at cemetery.
