Mark W. Lane, age 69, of Taunton, MA, passed away peacefully in the comfort of his sister Susan’s home, surrounded by his loving family on Thursday, September 19, 2024. He was the beloved husband of Marie K. (Mahoney) Lane. Born in Geneva on the Lake, OH, November 8, 1954, the son of the late Carol Ann (Nelson) Lane Sencabaugh and James L. Lane.
Mark thrived on caring for his family and helping others. He also enjoyed taking small trips to visit family and see different places. He was an avid stamp and coin collector. He loved listening to music and always looked forward to times of playing games with family (especially aggravation and cribbage).
In his youth, Mark enjoyed boxing, camping, skiing. He played football and wrestled at Cumberland High School. Mark joined the National Guards and held numerous jobs in his life. He was a concrete forms laborer and for many years, Mark worked as a Fabricator for Eastern Container and a Fork Lift Driver for National Lumber. But Mark’s real passion was cooking. In his early years, he worked as a cook for several businesses, but his favorite position was chef for Silver Bay. There, Mark worked year-round, traveling between their two locations in NY and FL. In retirement, before his illness limited him, Mark purchased an old truck (he called truck-truck) and did construction, yard work, house clean outs, and scrapping. He kept busy and always found ways to make money.
Mark was a former active member and served on the Board of Trustees at First Baptist Church, Mansfield, MA, where he cleaned the church and did a beautiful job landscaping their property.
