Mariana Barbosa Amado, 82, passed away on October 14th, 2024. She was born in Ribeira Ilheu, Fogo, Cabo Verde to the late Casimiro Barbosa Amado and Maria Barbosa Amado. She was also the beloved sister of the late Manuel Barbosa Amado, Maria Idalina Barbosa Amado Martins, Jesuina Barbosa Amado Gomes, Alberto Gomes Depina and Armando Gomes Depina.
Mariana married Ivo Lopes Brandaõ, and together they migrated to Brazil in 1964. There, they built a life filled with love, raising their children and sharing their passions. Mariana was known for her talent and dedication to cooking and seamstress work. She worked as a seamstress in Brazil, managing her own market and store in São Paulo.
Later in life, Mariana immigrated to the United States, where she continued her seamstress work and made the U.S. her permanent home. Her love for family and her commitment to providing for them was evident throughout her life.
Mariana is survived by her four children, José Silvio Mendes Brandaõ, Benvinda Silvana Mendes Brandaõ, Mariva Mendes Brandaõ, Ivo Lopes Mendes Brandaõ Jr. Her beloved grandchildren, Amanda Beaty, Adriana Brandão, Savannah Adams, Jaicee (Joey) De Carvalho, Samuel Smith Brandão and one great-grandchild, Zair Emmanuel. Lastly, Mariana is survived by her siblings Isabel Barbosa Amado Alves, Fausto Montrond Barbosa, and João Filipe Barbosa Amado, as well as their spouses who reside in Central Falls, RI.
Mariana will be remembered for her warmth, her love for cooking, and the care she showed to her family and friends. Her legacy of love and devotion will continue through the many lives she touched.
Family and friends are warmly invited to attend the visiting hours at Keefe Funeral Home, located at 5 Higginson Ave., Lincoln, RI, on Thursday, October 17th, from 4pm-7pm. A private burial will follow on Friday October 18th, 2024.
