It is with profound sadness that the Carto, Mayu, Biah, and Cooper families announce the passing of our beloved Marian “Ma Lue” Wonlah, 70, of Providence, Rhode Island. Marian peacefully transitioned on October 25th, 2024, surrounded by her grandsons and granddaughter at Golden Crest Nursing Facility.

Born on June 16th, 1954, in Nimba County, Liberia, Marian lived a life devoted to her faith and family. She was a source of unwavering love and strength, whose warm smile and gentle spirit brought comfort to all who knew her. Marian dedicated her life to serving God and was a devoted prayer warrior for her family and friends. She leaves behind a legacy yoked in service to God, family, and her community.

Marian is survived by her sister, Elizabeth Y. Mayu; brothers Solomon Biah and Macarthy Larngar; children Samuel Cooper, Minah Carto, Cornelius Carto, and Mame Carto-Dinuwelle; grandchildren Peterson Carto, Karley “KC” Carto, Prince Freeman, Karowuf Carto, Loucresia Peah, Shamor Cooper, Samelia Cooper, Christopher Sumo, Darvin Dinuwelle, Daryle Dinuwelle, Edrick Carto; seven great-grandchildren; and many cherished nieces, nephews, and cousins. She was preceded in death by her brother Tuazama Biah, her sister Neanman Gorwoh Biah, and her son Ralph T. Carto.

All who knew Ma Lue were touched by her consistent words of encouragement and love, shown through her actions. This love and selflessness led her to be the caretaker of her disabled great-granddaughter Nunwon Biah, with whom she shared a bond of undeniable love.
