Isabel V. Tavares, 89, passed away peacefully on November 4, 2024. Born on April 15,1935 in Lage, Sao Lourenço Dos Órgãos, Cabo Verde, Cape Verde, to the late Victor Dos Reis Borges and Idalina Rocha Vasconcelos. She was the wife of the late Hermenigildo Tavares.

Mrs. Tavares, migrated to the United States of America in 1974 accompanied by her family . She was an employee of Imperial Knife for over 10yrs then a retiree of Rawcliffe Pewter Co. where she dedicated over 10yrs.

Following her retirement, Mrs. Tavares devoted her life to being a loving caregiver to many of her great Grandchildren and the children of her extended family and friends. Alongside her dedication to caregiving for her Great grandchildren, she was eager to open her home to all. She enjoyed spending time with family and made it her priority to host Thanksgiving and Christmas at her home every year. Mrs. Tavares was always willing to help anyone who crossed her path with her generosity and wise counsel. Her wit, laughter, and faith based wisdom will be greatly missed by all.

She is survived by children Maria Tavares DaFonseca of Providence, Francisca V. Freitas of Providence RI, Jose Maria Tavares of Cabo Verde, Carlos A. Tavares of Providence RI, Maria L. Tavares of Cranston RI Fernando J. Tavares Sr. of Scituate RI Nephew Aguinaldo Filomeno Moreno of North Providence, grandchildren: Angelo F. DaFonseca Antonio DaFonseca, Angela F. Freitas, Joao DaFonseca, Maria DaFonseca, Joeseph Jennings, Emily D. Metts , Anizabete DaFonseca, Celina DeBarros, Elton DaFonseca, Amanda Tavares, Ryan A. Cardoso, Fernando J. Tavares, Jr. Courtney A. Tavares, Gabrielle Tavares, Aricely Tavares, Ariana Tavares, Jayden Tavares, Alma Tavares, Great niece Jordayna Moreno, great- grandchildren Angelo DaFonseca, Misani DaFonseca, Terrence Gibbs, Tatiana MacDonald, Monique DaFonseca, Vanny DaFonseca, Geovanni C. Barbosa, Nazia DaFonseca, Skyla DaFonseca, Ayden Fernandez, Joseph Jennings Jr. Amari Metts, Anyiah Metts, Isaiah DaFonseca, Avery Siede, Jaylynn Jennings, Naomi Tavares, great great Grandchildren Cali DaFonseca, Logan DaFonseca, Ocean DaFonseca, arriving soon… Royce Rosario and Echo Elisha MacDonald.

She was the mother to the late Candida de Conceição Tavares, Virgilio Tavares, Idalina DeBarros and sister to the late Maria Nascimento Vasconcelos Dos Reis Borges, Sergio Dos Reis Vasconcelos, Ana Fernandes, Mario Fernandes, Joaquim Dos Reis Vasconcelos.

Visitation will be held on Wednesday, November, 6th 2024 from 5pm-7pm in the Keefe Funeral Home, Five Higginson Ave. Lincoln. Her funeral will begin Thursday, November 7th, 2024 DIRECTLY at Holy Name Church, 107 Camp St. Providence at 10am. Please meet at church. Burial will follow in Gate of Heaven Cemetery, Riverside, RI.
