Bernard White Jr., age 59, transitioned peacefully to his Heavenly Home on Sunday January 5, 2025. He was born on August 30,1965 in Providence, RI to Patricia (Wilson) Smith and the late Bernard White Sr.

He was affectionately known to everyone as JR or Junior. Bernard was a gentle, loving, kind, and very private person. Junior was part of a blended family whom he loved very much. Bernard was very close to his daughter, Chevonda. He was proud of his son-in-law Lemoy Titus and grandchildren, Adonis Robert and Adriel Bernard. Junior would not hesitate to do anything for anybody if they needed him. He was a good son, father, grandfather and devoted friend. Bernard was full of wisdom and thought before acting.

Bernard was educated in the RI school system and graduated from East Providence High School. He attended Johnson and Wales University, taking courses in the Culinary Arts Program. JR played basketball for East Providence High School and Haven Methodist Church. He was a member and soloist in the Townsmen Choir. He was active in the community volunteering in East Providence High School Sports.

Junior was a professional drummer playing for the Temple of Prayer and Faith Church, Providence Spiritual Singers, The Youth Singers for Christ, The Providence Mass Choir, and Faith and Deliverance Tabernacle of God. He was also a mentor for other up and coming young musicians. He was a member of The Faith and Deliverance Tabernacle of God under the leadership of his mother, Bishop Patricia B. Smith.

Bernard was manager at Gregg’s Restaurants in East Providence and North Main Street for many years. He was an excellent cook. Junior used his talents in many occupational fields. At the time of his demise, He was the Developmental Transactional Coordinator at Rhode Island Housing.

Bernard was preceded in death by his maternal grandmother Bishop Minnie Pearl Blackshire, his father Bernard White, Sr, adopted brother Bernard Ramos Smith, neice Christine White and Evelyn Barnes. He leaves behind to mourn his passing; his daughter Chevonda White (Lemoy Titus); grandchildren Adonis and Adriel Titus, mother Bishop Patricia B. Smith and his Pop Leonard Smith, siblings Christopher White, Leonard Smith (Dorothy), David Smith (Vicki), Robbie Smith (Marie), Alice Terry, Aaron Smith (Rick), Michael Sullivan Smith, Joseph Sullivan Smith, Henry Garrett Smith, and Joan Holloway, as well as his extended family Derek, Charelle, James, Aneres, and Armani and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.

Visitation will be held on Thursday, January 16, 2025 from 10am-12pm followed by a funeral home service starting at 12pm in the Keefe Funeral Home, Five Higginson Ave. Lincoln. Burial private.
