Didi A. Perry, 79 of Cumberland, RI entered eternal rest on January 29, 2025 after a courageous and graceful year long journey with Cancer . She was surrounded by her beloved family at Hope Health.

Didi was born in Cape Verde Islands to the late Amelia ( Faria) and Joao Avelino. She completed her high school education in Cape Verde Islands before emigrating to Senegal , Lisbon and the United States of America. She retired from Texas Instruments in 2005. She was a devoted mother , grandmother, sister, aunt and friend to all . Her international travels led to her fluency in several languages. She demonstrated her love and care by hosting holiday gatherings , cooking traditional Portuguese and Cape Verdean cuisine and always celebrating birthdays. Additionally, she enjoyed her hobbies of occasional casino trips with her sisters , annual Washington DC trips , word search puzzles , sewing movie nights, Friday Fish night and summers “ down the Cape”.

Didi was survived by her children, Eveline Polite (Gregory) of Cumberland , RI, Eusebio Lopes (Ada Carrasco) of Cumberland, RI, Auguste Lopes (Connie)of Lakeville, MA , and John Avelino of Las Vegas, her grandchildren Alex Lopes of Lakeville,MA, Jason Lopes of RI and Isaac Polite of Cumberland, RI will cherish their memories with Vovo.

Didi is survived by her siblings, Fatima Rosa of Coventry, RI, Deolinda Avelino of North Providence, RI, Domingos Avelino of CT, and her siblings Mary Avelino , Rosa Avelino, Guerette Avelino , Eledio Avelino of Cape Verde Islands. She was blessed with a loving family including nephews, nieces, cousins and friends .

She is preceded in death by her siblings Carlos Avelino, Alcinda Avelino and Nicolau Avelino and grandchildren Matthew Polite and Austin Lopes .

Visitation will be held at Keefe Funeral Home, 5 Higginson Ave. Lincoln, RI on Saturday February 1, 2025 from 9:30am-11:30am. Burial will be private immediately following at Mt. St. Mary’s Cemetery in Pawtucket , RI.

In lieu of flowers, Didi’s wish was for donations may be to Dana Farber/ Jimmy Fund - Austin T Lopes Memorial Fund http://danafarber.jimmyfund.org/site/TR?fr_id=1200&pg=team&team_id=23999
