Sandra E. Deery, 81, peacefully passed away on January 24, 2025, after a courageous battle with pancreatic cancer. She was surrounded by her family. Sandra was a lifelong resident of Pawtucket. Many knew her as "Sandy," "Aunt," and her personal favorite, "Grandy." She was the daughter of the late Patrick Deery and Doris (Roberts).

She is survived by her brother, Francis Deery (Dorothy), as well as her loving family: William and Joyce Percival, Peter Andrews, her grandchildren (Michael and Mary-Kate Percival, Ryan and Jennifer Percival), her great-grandchildren (Samantha and Benjamin, Liam and Rose Percival), Geraldine and Frank Faber, nephew Kevin and Susan Faber, great-nephew Ryan and great-niece Kylie Faber, niece Robin Reo and Anthony Reo, great-nephew AJ Reo. She is also survived by her many beloved friends.

Sandra was a graduate of Pawtucket West High School and later earned a Master’s degree in elementary education from Rhode Island College. She spent her long teaching career, of which she was so proud, at Cunningham Elementary School in Pawtucket.

Sandra’s love of travel took her to her beloved Ireland, England, Scotland, and almost all 50 States. Some of her favorite trips were spent with friends in Narragansett at the beach, or on a family vacation with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Her generous and loving spirit touched the lives of many, particularly those of the numerous students she taught throughout her career. Her love of animals led to the rescue of many cats who filled her with so much joy.

Sandra always loved a party - to have great food, delicious drinks, and the sound of loved ones laughing beside her. She loved to cheer on her New York Giants and Boston Red Sox. She was an unforgettable person with the biggest and most generous heart. She had the brightest smile with a mischievous sparkle in her eye when she laughed. The magnitude of her loss will be felt deeply by all those who loved her. Special heartfelt thanks to Dr. Howard Safran and the entire team at Brown University Oncology Program for their compassion and care.

Arrangements will be made by Keefe Funeral Home Lincoln, RI. The celebration of her life will be held on March 22, 2025 from 12:00-2:00pm. The burial will be private. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in honor of Sandra to Pawtucket Animal Shelter (401 Newport Avenue, Pawtucket, RI 02861)
