Joao Victor Azevedo, fondly known as "Johno," passed away on March 11, 2025, at the age of 57.

Born on August 14, 1967, in Dakar, Senegal, Joao was the beloved son of Marcelino M. Azevedo and Maria A. Azevedo. He later built a life filled with love, laughter, and strong family bonds.

Joao is survived by his loving daughter, Janna C. Miranda and his three cherished grandchildren, Shawn, Zaidyn, and Dacian, who brought immense joy to his life. He was the only brother to his ten devoted sisters: Maria Dulcita, Marie Madeline, Regina, Eurely Lilly, Alda, Adeline, Veronique, Zenaide, Maria, and Sylvie.

He is also survived by his 19 beloved nieces and nephews, their children, and many cousins.

Joao was preceded in death by his infant son, Corey Azevedo Miranda, his parents, his sister Ana, his niece Jocelyn, and his nephews Brandon and Randy. He was grieving the recent loss of his beloved mother, with whom he had lived for most of his life and whom he helped care for in her later years. He missed her terribly and carried her memory in his heart every day.

Joao will be remembered as a man who was full of life, humor, and generosity. He was the life of the party, always showing kindness and love to those around him. He believed deeply in respect—if you gave it, you got it in return. No matter his own circumstances, he was always willing to help others in any way he could, sharing whatever he had without hesitation. He would give the shirt off his back if someone asked for it.

His love for music, particularly the vibrant sounds of Cabo Verde, was a defining part of his spirit. He always had that one song to keep the party going, and his infectious energy lit up every room. He loved to dance, bringing joy to those around him with his effortless rhythm and enthusiasm.

Though Joao struggled with mental health challenges throughout his life, he never let them stop him from being there for others. He put aside his own battles to offer help, love, and support whenever it was needed.

A lifelong fan of the Los Angeles Lakers, Joao never missed a game. His passion for the team was undeniable, and he never hesitated to defend their greatness to anyone who dared to suggest otherwise. His enthusiasm for basketball was just one of the many ways he brought energy and spirit to those around him.

Joao’s legacy of love, loyalty, and generosity will forever live on in the hearts of his family and friends. His presence will be deeply missed, but the memories he created will be cherished always.
