90, passed on June 5, 2011. She was the wife of Lloyd F. Cook; they had been married for 63 years.
Doris was a Navy Veteran of WWII, and worked for the Office of Naval Research, NASA, and the Goddard Institute for Space Studies. She retired from government service in 1985. She then worked as the private assistant to astronomer Dr. Robert Jastrow.
Doris previously resided in Rochester, NY and Bloomfield, NJ. She lived the past five years at Emerald Bay in Cumberland.
Besides her husband, she is survived by two sons, Harry Cook and his wife Kathie of North Pole, AK and Bill Cook and his partner of Wrentham, MA, her grandchildren, Hillary and Christopher, both of California, A brother, Harry Butler of Hamburg, NY.
A memorial service will be held Thursday, June 9th at 2pm at the Emerald Bay Manor, 10 Old Diamond Hill Rd, Cumberland, RI.
