Justa Teixeira Goncalves, 85, of Pawtucket, Rhode Island, passed away peacefully on March 27, 2025. Born in Brava, Cape Verde, she was the beloved daughter of the late Antonio G. and Eugenia (Duarte) Teixeira. She immigrated to the United States in search of a better life for her family, eventually settling in Pawtucket, where she built a life filled with love, hard work, and cherished traditions.
Justa was a dedicated worker, spending 10 years employed at Providence Metalizing. She was known not only for her strong work ethic but also for the warmth and kindness she shared with everyone around her. Beyond work, she found joy in life’s simple pleasures—especially music and dancing. She loved to listen to music, and her passion for dancing brought happiness to her family and friends, turning any gathering into a celebration.
A talented cook, Justa was famous for her delicious pastels, a dish that became a staple at family gatherings. She poured love into her cooking, using it as a way to bring people together and create lasting memories.
Above all, Justa was a devoted mother, grandmother, and aunt. She is survived by her three children, Maria and Domingos Teixeira, and Ana Silva; 14 grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews, all of whom she adored. Family was the heart of her world, and she took great pride in the love and unity she fostered among them.
Justa’s strength, faith, and unwavering love will forever be remembered. She leaves behind a legacy of kindness, resilience, and the joy she shared through her music, dancing, and cooking. Though she is no longer with us, her spirit will live on in the hearts of those who knew and loved her.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday, April 2, 2025, from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. at Keefe Funeral Home, Five Higginson Ave., Lincoln. Her funeral will take place on Thursday, April 3, 2025, at 8:30 a.m. at Immaculate Heart of Mary Church, 291 High St., Pawtucket. Please meet directly at church. Burial will follow at Walnut Hill Cemetery, Pawtucket.
