1935 – 2025

Violet Saakov, 89, passed away peacefully on Saturday, May 24th, 2025, surrounded by his loving family.

Born in 1935 in Baku, Azerbaijan, Violet was the son of Nikolai and Hasmik Sahakiants. He was the eldest of three children and is predeceased by his brother, Alik. He is survived by his sister, Inga.

Violet spent the majority of his life in Baku, where he worked tirelessly and remained a steadfast presence for his family through times of change and uncertainty. He ensured the safe departure of his loved ones and remained in the city until the very end was near. Later in life, he resided in Yerevan, Armenia, and Moscow, Russia, before immigrating to the United States in 2001. He had since made his home in Rhode Island.

Known for his energy and strong work ethic, Violet continued working after his move to the U.S., contributing to local establishments. He was deeply devoted to his family and could often be found driving his wife and children on various trips and activities. A fun-loving and warmhearted man, Violet was known for his quick humor and spirited toasts. His presence brought laughter and light to those around him.

He is survived by his beloved wife Svetlana, his three children - Irina, Vadim, and Alexander and granddaughter Emiliya.

Services to honor Violet’s life will be held as follows:

Wake: Friday, May 30th, from 6:00 - 9:00 PM at Keefe Funeral Home

Burial: Saturday, May 31st, at 11:45 AM at Swan Point Cemetery
