75, of Dexter St, passed December 9th at the Philip Hulitar Center, Providence.
Born in Fogo, Cape Verde, a son of the late Viriato and Laura (Pires) Lopes.
He had been the proprietor of the former Horizonte Lounge of Central Falls for many years. He arrived in the US aboard the "Ernestina" servicing as a motorist 47 years ago.
He is survived by five siblings, Viriato Lopes, Herculano Lopes, Manuel Lopes, Mary Lopes, and Amelia Lopes six children, Victor M. Lopes, Michael Lopes, Marlo Excellent, Laura Pires Lopes, Brian Brierly and Fatima Roberson a God Daughter, Teresa Fortes, 4 Step Children, Michelle Almeida, Dawn Pettiway, Brenda Pettiway and Linda Pettiway, 17 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren. He was the former husband of Dorothy Lopes.
Calling hours will be Fiday December 16th from 9 am to 11am, followed by a service at 11am at the Keefe Funeral Home, Five Higginson Ave, Lincoln, RI Burial will be in Resurrection Cemetery, Cumberland, RI.
