87, passed away peacefully on Sunday, February 17, 2013 at Oak Hill Nursing & Rehabilitation Center in Pawtucket, RI. Born on 7/18/1925 in New York, James eventually settled down in the State of Rhode Island graduating from Central High School in 1948. He served as an aviator in the United States Navy during World War II from 1943-1946. James was employed by the Johnston School Department of Transportation as a bus driver from 1969-1980, also owning and operating his own Laundromat business from 1970 until his retirement in 2002. Besides several dear friends, James is survived by his two sons, James W. McKenna, Jr. and Mark A. McKenna. A committal service with military honors will be held Saturday, March 2nd, at the RI Veterans Cemetery, Exeter. Attendees are to assemble in the first parking area (Administration Building) by 9:45am. Relatives and friends are asked to contact the funeral home at 401 725 4253.
