Born in Brava, Cape Verde, he was a son of the late Gualdino B. and Eugenia P. Baptista.
He had been a business entrepreneur and one of the influential pioneers of the Cape Verdean Community in RI since arriving in the US in the late 60's.
Besides his wife, he is survived by three sons, Carlos Baptista of Boston, Joao Baptista of Pawtucket and John Baptista of Sanford, FL, a daughter, Melissa Baptista Loria of Maitland, FL, his brothers, Julio P. Baptista of Lincoln, Frank P. Baptista of Fall River, MA, Domingos P. Baptista of Pawtucket, Ernest P. Baptista of Pawtucket, his sisters, Eugenia Mendez of Pawtucket, Laurinda B. Fortes of Pawtucket, Rosa Gomes of Maximo Ohio, Rosa P. Baptista of Cumberland, seven grandchildren, a great grandson and many nieces and nephews. He was the brother of the late Manuel P. Baptista, John P. Baptista and Jose P. Baptista.
His funeral will be held Wednesday at 8:30am in the Keefe Funeral Home, Five Higginson Ave, Lincoln with a Mass of Christian Burial in St. Anthony Church, Lawn Ave, Pawtucket at 10am. Burial will be in Mt. St. Mary Cemetery, Pawtucket. Relatives and friends are invited. Calling hours will be held Tuesday from 5pm to 8pm.
